MCE PC

I have a recently aqired Windows MCE 2005. I bought it for the decent video cards, large hard drive, and 1GIG of RAM. I hate the syrupy layout and would like to know if I can turn this machine into a Windows Vista Pro machine once the OS is available for home users. I read that there would be an update path to MCE, but would rather convert it to Vista Pro. Any insights are welcome.
Many thanks Chris Smith.

Yes, you will be upgrade to Windows Vista Business and Enterprise Editions and yes, it will kill the MCE component, so make sure you don't want it. I don't mind MCE, it does not get in the way, only disadvantage is that you cannot join a domain in version 2005 unless you upgrade from the 2 prior versions or use a Hack.

Please note though that the Enterprise Edition of Windows Vista is only available to Volume License customers under Software Assurance, you might also want to check this link out: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/versions/default.mspx -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

MCE 2005 users would likely be served upgrading to Vista Ultimate (which includes Media Center), and it also adds domain support. Ultimate (unlike Enterprise) will also be a retail product.
